Minimising Our Environmental Impact

Meridian Leisure hotels recognise that we are responsible for ensuring good environmental practices throughout our group and endeavour to operate in a sustainable manner where feasible.

We are therefore committed to reducing the negative environmental impact of our business and continually improving our environmental performance, making it an integral and fundamental part of our business strategy and operating methods.

We actively encourage our employees to understand our environmental policy and engage in best practices across our hotels and central office.

Ongoing efforts continue to be made to initiate, control and reduce consumption of energy and we remain committed to install energy efficient equipment as and when required.

We shall remain dedicated and passionate in our efforts to minimise any negative impact of our business on the environment.

Across Our Estate

Environmental Directive
Implement sound environmental practices in the design, development and operation of our hotels.
Construction Materials
Wherever practical, we endeavour to use recycled material or material that can be recycled throughout the construction & refurbishment of our hotels.
Guest Consumables
Where possible we inform our guests about the differences they can make by saving energy, water, the use of products and services without impacting on their comfort during their stay. All single use plastics on site are made from recyclable material, and are recycled weekly.
Internal Initiatives
We will continue to educate and involve employees in the implementation of this policy with an aim for greater commitment and improved environmental performance.
Waste & Recycling
Meridian Leisure maintains a strict policy in regards to waste generated from our hotels, we continue to recycle where possible and reduce the percentage of our waste going into landfill.
Supply Chain
We Endeavor to work with suppliers and contractors who share our commitment and have compatible policies for managing their impact on the environment.
Consumable Plastics
All consumable plastics used throughout our estate are recyclable, and as per standard operating procedure these are sorted and recycled separately from general waste.

Car Park LED Installation 2023
This hotel replaced all car park lighting with energy efficient LED's in Q2 2023.
Car Charging Point 2024
This hotel plans to install an electrical car charging point by the end of 2024
Refurbishment
This property completed an extensive refurbishment in Q4 2020; this included an comprehensive overhaul of the mechanical & electrical, leading to substantial decreases in our overall energy usage. All materials used during the refurbishment came from sustainable sources.
Environmental Compliance
This hotel is in compliance with our Estate Wide Corporate Environmental Policy
Recycling Capacity
This hotel recycles up to 6000 Liters of waste in any given week.
Air Conditioning

Energy Efficient Lighting
During the refurbishment, we replaced 99% of the lighting with the newest standard of energy efficient LED's. All lighting within the hotel are attached to sensors to ensure only the absolute minimum amount of energy is used at any given time.
Water Usage
We utilize the nearby lake water for gardening purposes, leading to a substantial reduction in in our commercial water supply usage.
