Southampton Reviews

We are always wanted to know what our customers think of our hotels.  If you have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Southampton M27 Jct7  then or any other of our hotels why not share your experience with other customers.  Below are some of things our customers have said.

“Like Arnie says, I'll be back.”

A weekend away to visit Portsmouth, we were on a budget and wanted an inexpensive yet comfortable hotel experience for my wife, my son and I. We choose this holiday inn express as it's location was ideal, we wanted to watch Southampton play our team 'Bristol rovers' in the league on the Saturday then shop and enjoy Portsmouth on Sunday. The location was great, 2 minutes off the motorway it could not be easier. I read some reviews and away we went. What do some people expect for around £70 ? Some breakfast items were low and needed topping up, it was crowded at 9am breakfast sitting, the room was a little small, oh come on people if you want gold standard luxury book into to' Burj Al Arab
In Dubai for heavens sake. I'll tell you now it was a great stay. The sofa bed was already made up on arrival in room, it was very clean. The staff were top notch, the hotel looked modern and spacious and don't even get me started on the gym ( hotel guests have a special rate day pass available at Esportia right next door) sumptuous luxury :-) I had my breakfast after a gym session at yes that dreaded 9am slot and as it was a Saturday night the hotel was crowded but you know what? It worked a treat. Food hot and plentiful, great choice and what's more it was free. Papers on reception, and when I asked if they had a plaster for my sons blister (lots of walking around the shops :-) yes they did !!!!! 10/10 holiday inn, you made our weekend and we will be back. Give yourselves a pat on the back. Job well done. Thanks. Dave (Bristol)

“Quality Guaranteed”

We stay at this Hotel frequently as my Husband is from Southampton and we make regular trips from Essex to visit friends and family. The Hotel is always welcoming, the reception area is organised and friendly, the rooms are always clean and comfortable and the breakfast - while not being a full English breakfast - always sees us through until the end of the day and is more than adequate and well prepared. We have never had a single complaint about this hotel.

“A very pleasant quiet hotel”

My wife and I needed to stay in the area for a family occasion. We appreciated a quiet place to stay with no piped music. The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was included in the price and well-arranged with a varied selection of hot and cold items. For those who enjoy a swim there is a 'health club ' next door which one can join for a reduced rate.

“Once we'd found the place! a great step-up from Travelodge”

Was looking for a last minute cheap room for a trip to Portsmouth and found this for the same price as Travelodge but with the cost of breakfast thrown in. We struggled to find it at first as there is no signage from the motorway, if their directions had stated next door to Rose bowl we would have found it no hassle as this is signposted everywhere! However, very impressed upon arrival. It may be an Express but it has all of the qualities of a standard Holiday Inn with welcoming staff and well furnished rooms. The beds and the pillows were so comfortable we all had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was also excellent and there was plenty of it. Will now be choosing these over my usual Travelodge. Top marks.

“Love the place, comfortable, very clean, friendly and in an ideal location.”

Have stayed at this hotel several times and have never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and keen to help. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the showers and toilets too. The beds are comfortable and the bed linen and towels are always well-laundered. Breakfast is included in price and you can help yourself to as much or as little as you want (did notice some people over-indulging!). The evening menu is varied and the meals are averagely priced, there are plenty of tables in the dining room and a tall trolley to put your used tray on to. There is 24 hour access and free parking, the car park has CCTV.
We visit family in the area every year and have stayed at various hotels in and around Southampton but this has proved to be our favourite for location and for all aspects of the hotel itself.
Even though it is near the Rose Bowl cricket ground and a health club, it is still very quiet.
Would recommend it to anyone.

“Fabulous value”

I would definitely recommend this Holiday Inn. I don't normally like going away for business purposes but I felt very comfortable and looked after at this hotel. The rooms are very clean and well maintained with high speed wi-fi and even a work desk.
The conference room is air conditioned and very comfortable, ideal for long meetings - as ours was. i only had one meal there but was amazed at the value - three courses and two drinks came to under £30.00! I had home-made beef lasagne and it rivalled my mother's. You really can't go wrong at this hotel.

pcams

Room was clean and modern, location was acceptable, parking was ok for me because I got there before 5pm. Food in the hotel itself was extremely over-priced and poor, breakfast was reasonably acceptable. In my view, this hotel is aimed at those who expense everything with no regrets.

Family with Triplets (2.5years). Well worth the money and not far from Paultons Park. We stayed in a Family room which was not very big but enough space. The room was very clean and bathrooms newish. Everything was very practical and served our purpose well. Most of all I would like to compliment the Staff at the reception and bar. Life and Travel with Triplets is difficult as it is but they did their best to make it easy. Also nice that for a small fee one can use the Esporta next door. We did not know that we had to take our own towels and the staff at reception was very kind to let us take hotel towels even though we had just checked out!

Main purpose of our trip was to visit family and friends on this side of southampton, and to do a little shopping at the out out of town development at Hedge End. Could not fault the hotel, it was absolutely ideal. Would imagine, if you're a cricket fan, this would be your idea of heaven as the Rose Bowl is less than 200 yards away. As a member of Holiday Inn Priority Club, I had made a request for 2 x double beds, which unfortunately they couldn't do based on the brand, but to their absolute credit they rang me the day before and offered me my choice of two rooms, and at the same time confirmed an early check in would be no trouble at all. Staff - full marks, Location - ideal for our visit. Fabulous complimentary breakfast choice including bacon & eggs - bonus !!

miss_minervois

Excellent hotel with very good service and facilities. Very good value for money. Excellent breakfast included in the price with choices to suit everyone. Free parking on site and within walking distance of large shopping mall for last minute opportunities, the largest M&S I have ever been in! Very easy to find as on the doorstep of the Rose Bowl cricket ground

W Jackson

We arrived late as pre-arranged and were booked in promptly. We had wanted non- smoking which was not covered on the booking form so we were upgraded to a larger room. We were asked if there was anything else they could do for us. I said I had asked if it was possible to have breakfast 5.30am as we had to leave early. He explained breakfast is not served until 7am. (A cooked breakfast ) Steve would be on duty and would be happy to put out cereals, yougurt, toast and fruit plus tea and coffeee. In the morning Steve was very helpful and we had an enjoyable if short break. The only slight complaint is the bed was not as firm or as comfortable as more expensive hotels, but acceptable.

Alex R

Better than average for a chain hotel of this type. A bit characterless, as one would expect in a no-frills chain hotel, but the room was very clean and in good decorative order. The staff were poite and efficient - a good breakfast was provided. Definitely no complaints.

Peter V

Quiet room despite being on the road side of the building, comfortable, clean, and good sized .
Staff welcoming and provided good service, bar and public rooms tidy and clean. All public areas smart. Car parking CCTV, and ample. Great experience.

Frank J

Stayed at hotel for a family trip and booked a family room. Bed was very comfortable with even a choice of firm or soft pillows!

I Waller

"Does what it says on the tin" Holiday Inn Express! Good budget accomodation for a day or two. Ours was a one night stay in Southampton for our son's graduation. Nice comfortable room for two adults and our daughter. Good beds and facilities. Excellent shower and more than adequate continental breakfast. There is a leisure centre next door, but very expensive. Also close to the Rose Bowl and lots of shops. Couple of nice places to eat in nearby Botley, that has a village feel to it.

Peter B

This was the first time I have used a holiday inn express and it was a good experience. We had 2 adults and 2 children in one room and that was fine for a one night or mini break.

Katy C

We have stayed at this hotel before so we knew what to expect & we were not dissapointed. We booked from the Sunday as we wanted to see the new Queen Elizabeth, as Bill was a member of the crew, of the one that was burnt at Hong Kong.
Unfortunately, as Her Majesty was going to name the ship after herself and because of the rather tight security we could only see her from afar. Still a great thrill. Then it was back to the hotel for the curry, again Brilliant. Would definitely reccomend the hotel .

A Adams

Good value for money, the rooms were adequate for our family requirements and clean. The food from the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced.

James M

We had a lovely experience at this hotel. The rooms were lovely and clean and very comfortable. Breakfast time was a little busy and it was slight chaos in the self serve buffet but we got a table fairly easily. The quality of the breakfast was good although there wasn't too much choice on the cooked front! Parking during the evening is sometimes difficult but the hotel seem relaxed about letting you park on the grass verges and in non parking spaces. Would stay here again as it was quiet and very nice!

S Ford

Stayed 1 night prior to cruise from Southampton. Hotel modern, light and airy. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Double room basic but very clean and new - hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, shampooo/conditioner, free parking. Would definately recommend.

Y Sells

Although the hotel was full we were booked in quickly and the breakfast was varied and tasty

L Burke

The room was very clean, had a very comfortable bed & a great shower. The hotel was quiet & I had a very good nights sleep. The room had enough storage space & good mirrors. I was also very pleased to see a hairdryer. The only critisism I had was the same as a lot of hotels in the UK- it needed a room safe. I had to take my keys, credit cards, money etc with me to the party I was going to. Every hotel I have stayed in abroad has safes in the rooms & I think it would be a very good idea if hotels in the UK started to have them as well. Only realised at check-out that they have several safety deposit boxes available at Reception.

Sheila K

We had a great stay, the hotel was very clean and child friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer.

A Sarfraz

Lovely clean almost new hotel. Had breakfast buffet style continental which was plentiful and tasty. My only gripe was we had a family room but it was a double bed with a double bed settee, would have preferred 2 singles but hotel was friendly and clean, top class.

Helen O

Very good value, Holiday Inn Express have really up-ed their game

Michael Howe

Excellent value for money. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

R Lloyd

Our room was lovely, clean and big enough for the four of us. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good also. We would stay again most definitely. Well worth the money.

Elizabeth Shane

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 1 night. The room was clean, service from the reception staff was good. I didn't eat an evening meal so can't comment on the evening food. I did have breakfast which was good, plenty of choice for breakfast.

K Baker

We stayed on Boxing Day night for a stop-over. Room clean, decent size. I liked the blue halogen lights in the bathroom for not disturbing your partner at night. Breakfast decent, plenty of it and perfectly anonymous. Cost £59 for both of us, good vfm.

R Hunt

We all rated this Holiday Inn quite highly. Comfortable rooms, good showers and the breakfast had good choice. Altogether good value for money for £55 per night for a family room, but this was the THIRD time in the last year that a fire alarm has gone off in the middle of the night at different Holiday Inns, with no explanation.

Carl H

All staff at the hotel were very friendly, helpful and accommodating - I had mislaid my wallet and yet they were still happy to check us in and allow my family to go to our room while I retraced my steps to find my wallet. The room was very clean but it was small with the sofa-bed in use and gave very limited room to move. Likewise, the bathroom was also very clean but it was a great shame there was no bath. The buffet at breakfast was good, there was plenty to choose from and items were constantly re-stocked. There were a lot of tables and chairs in the restaurant which made it crowded and difficult to get around (especially for my disabled son) and I would imagin at busy times it would be quite noisy and even harder to get around (fortunately when we used it, there were only a very few people). The hotel is up-to date with fresh, modern decoration. It's easily on a par with Premier Inn if not better (decor is brighter, more subtle and with breakfast thrown in for the price it's better value) - it's miles better than any Travelodge I've ever stayed at!

S Hall

We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to leaving on our Canaries cruise. We were very pleasantly surprised by the standard considering the high prices being charged elsewhere. The staff were very friendly and helpful and definately made our stay even more memorable.

S Allardyce

Only used for one night, very clean, comfortable, breakfast was a bonus with plenty to choose from. Excellent value for money.

David K

Hotel was very good, staff friendly. The mobile phone signal was poor for Orange network here so would need to pay for Wi-fi, which these days seems less customer oriented. Would stay again certainly.

John Henry

Booked last minute here and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very clean with attentive staff. Rooms were adequate with comfy bed and decent decor. Bathroom was small with no bath, but good pressure in shower and was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was plentiful with cereals, toast, croissants, fruit etc and tea/coffee. Would stay here again.

J Parr

Good value for money, spacious room, nice decor and clean. A good value hotel - the price we paid included breakfast which was only buffet but very nice with lots of choice; cereal, eggs, bacon, toast, fresh pastries, yoghurt, fruit and cold meats and cheese!

Peter W

Had a lovely stay in this hotel. Ideal for families or for business travellers

J Lampshire

This hotel was excellent value for money and our room was great. Breakfast was included and this far exceeded our expectations.

Anna White

Outstanding reception by the staff. Very accommodating considering we we're late arriving and they ensured we got a lovely meal before the restaurant closed. Very impressed. We will stay with Holiday Inn Express again.

Mark Draper

This was our first time in a holiday inn and we found the whole experience hassle free, the reception staff were friendly and the room was clean and adequately geared. The breakfast was good and check in and out was very efficient. Parking facilities were great.

ISABEL DAVIES

We only stayed the one night for business but it was a pleasant experience. The hotel is very new and clean. It has a bar and a good sized seating area. There was plenty of free parking in the grounds and the staff were friendly. It is close to the M27 motorway and good for southampton center. I would use it again if I was working in or around that area. As for food you can eat at the hotel, or if you want there is a list of places in your room that you can dine or if you prefer you can order for delivery to the hotel and they will give you the cutlery to eat it there.

A Williams

“Great value, excellent standard.”

Very clean and tidy HI Express and excellent value breakfast-inclusive rate. Good location, free parking, easily accesible for Southampton, Portsmouth and the New Forest.

Rooms clean, furnishings of a good standard. Shower only, but good one, with particularly cunning door arrangement enabling the toilet to be used while someone else uses the sink.

Good staff, polite and helpful.

Nearby out of town shopping centres give you some dining options if required (though only fast food and Pizza Hut) however proximity to the motorway leaves your options open.

A Stuttle

i was very impressed with the hotel i would recommend it to any one good value, pleasant and very helpful staff, good, what more would anyone want

M THORPE

Cleanliness of the room and the breakfast

Mohamed

Staff and service were very pleasant to deal with and gave good service. The location was excellent for my needs with family in Eastleigh and wanting to see some cricket.

We are frequent visitors to this hotel as by husband originates from Southampton and we return to visit friends and family. The quality and standards are consistent. The reception staff are welcoming and helpful, the rooms always clean as are the bathrooms. The complimentary breakfast is a very nice touch.

P Heading

Clean modern hotel with lovely decor. Staff were very friendly and helpful. By far and away a much better experience than similar hotels such as Premier Inn and Travelodge. Breakfast was very nice and far better than I expected.

C Royale

Reception staff were very friendly and very quick and I found my room to be very clean. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection of food. Despite being busy the tables were quickly cleaned so we had somewhere to sit down. I would definately use this hotel again.

“Lovely little hotel”

We stayed at this hotel for just one night as we were catching an early ferry the next day from Southampton, originally booked a Travelodge but this hotel was more value for money and included breakfast for everybody not just children. We booked literally the day before we stayed, and as a large party they accommodated us well. The price we paid for our rooms was good and also included a continental breakfast the next morning with hot items- a good breakfast I may add.

Check in was quick and easy, and the male members of our party were loving that the bar was only next door to the reception desk where they just chilled and watched the sport on the television. All our rooms were clean and good enough for us, with things like a tea and coffee station and also the two selection of pillows- firm or soft which was nice.

We would all stay at this hotel again and loved that it was only a 20 min drive to Southampton Docks. Thanks Holiday Inn Express!

We booked literally the day before we stayed, and as a large party they accomodated us well. (Better then grabbing a last minute mcd or rubbish food on the ferry).
With us we had my grandparents in which we had asked for a room close to the lift as they are in their 80s, they were accomodated in a ground floor room nearish the entrance which was even better.
Check in was quick and easy, and the male members of our party were loving that the bar was only next door to the reception desk where they just chilled and watched the sport on the tele.

Most of us did not eat in the restaurant, but we found the likes of KFC, Pizza hut, Mcdonalds etc only a 10 minute walk away which was good enough for us especially after our 2 hour drive up from London. My mum, my step-dad and his parents ate in the restaurant and they said it was alright.

We would all stay at this hotel again and loved that it was only a 20 min drive to Southampton Docks :)
Thanks Holiday Inn!

Stayed August 2011, traveled with family

Excellent Hotel
Enjoyed everything about this hotel, the room, the lounge area, the food & the location. The only problem was the cost of wifi

P Errington

The hotel was immaculate, couldn't fault the cleanliness and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Arun Baruah

Brilliant value for money - couldn't faulit anything
Room was a bit of squeeze for 2 adults and 2 grown children but as we were only there 1 night didn't matter. The positives far outweighed this 1 minor issue

Great value!
When booking I feared it would be a run-down, noisy, very basic motorway hotel but was delighted to find a clean and new-looking building with sensible, unfussy interior, very friendly and helpful staff, and a well appointed room with great lighting. The design of the rooms has been well-thought out to provide maximum space in the bathroom and bedroom. It was great value.

Compared to hotels of a similar kind, it was newer, cleaner, better equipped (a sofa in the bedroom was a highlight) and very good value. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was good. Shower was fantastic. Parking was a dream. Can't fault it!

David

Everything about this hotel is top class, should be the yardstick for all motel type establishments

Anonymous

We are members of Esporta in our home town and the position of the holiday inn right next to Hampshire Esporta was very convenient and we used the facilities on our multi site membership. Our daughter will be a student at southampton university next year and we are looking for convenient hotel accommodation for visiting her. The fact that you also took our dog for the weekend made the visit excellent.

Caroline

We found this Holiday Inn Express very comfortable. The room was clean and we made use of the Health Centre next door which we found good value at £7.75 per day and children are free. The breakfast was varied although my son complained that there was no bacon, however, I did explain that they had recently started doing cooked breakfast foods so maybe next time... :)

Anonymous

We had a very spacious room for myself and 2 small children. Very clean and felt very at home there. Would definetely go back although would probably eat at the local shopping estate as the kids menu was very limited. The food however was nice and thoroughly happy with our stay.

Anonymous

We purposely booked the hotel for location to the Rose Bowl as had booked to see a cricket match. Location for Rose Bowl absolutely excellent as we could walk there. Friendly reception staff. Room was spotless and looked as if it could have been brand new.

Lisa

We normally stop at premier inn and this hotel was of the same standard.. All in all would stay again

Vera

The staff were so polite and helpful. Booked this room as I was going on a cruise. I have got to say I was a little worried as I had never stayed in anything less than a 5star hotel. I am delighted to say that my preconceptions were unfounded. I Will recommend this hotel to anyone.

Anonymous

An excellent location, just off of the m27 Motorway. Adjoining the County Cricket Ground so excellent for that too. Superstores are very close too

Anonymous

It was a stopover for an evening business meeting, so I did not use the facilities (bar, restaurant etc.) apart from breakfast. I found everything clean and efficient - and there was nothing more I required.

Richard

Good location. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Next to the hotel we find very good Health club. Nice to spend time relaxing in the sauna and Jacuzzi.

Anonymous

Friendly welcome, helpful and efficient. Ideal location for the Rose Bowl cricket ground.

Cathy

It was modern, clean and very comfortable, very impressed with the new layout of the bathrooms and also a big plus was the climate control in the room which meant even though it was a warm night we had a very comfortable nights sleep

Clean and comfortable with a decent view. I like that sustainability principles are proactively encouraged. I knew what I was getting because the IHG chain is relatively consistent in terms of its offering.

It was a convenient and comfortable overnight stay before picking up our cruise ship the following day.

Within easy reach for most amenities. This hotel caters for singles to couples, families with children and the more mature holiday maker. The staff do their upmost to make your stay at the Hotel as pleasant and relaxing as possible, a great team.

Susan

As we were visiting firends nearby, the location was great. The hotel was easy to find and parking was not a problem. The room was clean and tidy. We have stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotels in a number of locations when visiting England and while not the most luxurious they are well located, parking is easy, clean and good. We have found the staff at these hotels to be very helpful.

Francis

The breakfast is very good really differentiates Holiday Inn from other budget hotels.

Andrew

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms and breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again and recommend to others for business and leisure. Hassle free, friendly staff, excellant service and very clean.

A modern large hotel with a secure car park. Breakfasts at a holiday inn express is always busy but this hotel was very efficient with tables quicly cleared and food service areas regularly cleaned and refilled. handy for catching the ferry to the Isle of Wight .

This was the second time I'd stayed here in two weeks and will certainly stay here again. The first week I had a family room on the first floor the second time a double room on the second floor. Both rooms were spotlessly clean, the bathrooms (shower only) were in good decor and the beds very comfortable. Service at the front desk was friendly and efficient. The breakfast on both stays was very good and even though it was half term last week and the hotel was very busy I had no problem finding a table.

The hotel is very clean and tidy and well maintained. The breakfast was very good especially as its free and the dinner was super and it is nice to see a big chain hotel offering fresh food and not the usual microwave rubbish.

We stayed one night as we were attending a wedding reception at the Rosebowl Cricket ground. Booked overnight stay early and so it was only £50. The room on the first floor was spacious and spotless with tea and coffee making. The reception man was busy and immediately a young lady appeared with a friendly smile and helpful manner. Very quiet and restful for a stopover.

I've been here before, but not for around 18 months. I gave a positive review last time and I'm pleased to write another. The welcome here is consistently warm and efficient. My room was on the top floor in the smokers area, at the end of the corridor. Great location as no noise from above and no people walking past your door. Occasionally I heard other people going in and out of their rooms along the corridor but my room didn't shake when their doors closed. Always a plus. Room is basic but very clean with a comfortable bed. Black out curtains are up so I slept like a baby all 4 nights. There's the usual kettle with a small selection of tea and coffee, but no fruity/herbal tea was provided. Complimentary car parking is a plus point. Overall this remains a comfortable, clean, friendly and efficient place to stay. I'll likely return.

This hotel is typical Holiday Inn Express - which is good, cos you know what you're going to get! Not like at some chain hotels. Our welcome was warm, our room quiet, with two large single beds as they don't offer king size. The bathroom is tiny but we appreciated having a proper shower instead of one shoved into the bath. We had a curry meal in the restaurant which was far superior to the curry we'd had at an Indian restaurant on the Isle of Wight the previous night.

I have become more and more impressed with the Holiday Inn Express brand over recent months. However, this particular hotel stepped up the quality even more, and still at the very reasonable price, representing much better value than say the Premier Inn who want to charge me a lot more for these facilities.

The hotel is very large compared to the standard HIE model, but it loses nothing as a result of this, plus is able to offer a good bar and food service. There is a large secure car park (unique code required at exit barrier). Two lifts mean less waiting around.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful at front desk and bar. The room itself was again standard HIE layout, although slightly larger than normal. Good work space, sofa and comfortable bed.

This is the best HIE I have stayed at, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

This was the second time we had used this hotel . First was to drop off our son to pick up his cruise ship in early Aug, when he was with us,then to collect him this weekend at the start of his leave. Both times we found the service really good. The location though a bit out of Southampton definetly worth the extra 10 mins. We had an evening meal which was excellent and the staff couldnt have been more polite and helpful. We didnt need any particular help but noticed how helpful they were to a fellow guest at Reception. Will definetly be using it again when we are in Southampton

This hotel was excellent value for money.

We have three boys, twins aged 3 and 5 year old so had to book two rooms because there were no family suites available on the dates required. I phoned the hotel a couple of days before we were due to arrive and requested to have rooms next door to each other. We arrived at the hotel and they reserved the rooms next to each other.

Once we had got to our room much to our surprise there was a door that adjoined the two rooms. It was perfect. It was just like having a suite.

The breakfast was really good, plenty of selection of English and Continental. The staff were excellent as well. Great for the Hedge End Botleigh side of Southampton and walking distance to the Rose Bowl.

I'll be staying there again for sure.

Welcoming staff, very efficient and well organised. rooms are always very clean, well laid out and very comfortable beds. The meals are always first class ans exceptionaly good value.A home from home.

We were able to sign in and get into our room earlier than expected. This was most welcome as we had had a long drive. The room was warm and comfortable. The hotel was close to the docks thus making the journey there in the morning trouble free. The breakfast was also very good. Would stay again.

J McCoy

I stay at this particular Holiday Inn Express often. Staff know me very well and nothing is too much trouble. Always very polite and efficient.

M Fowler

I was able to bring my dogs with me. The buffet breakfast included is one of the reasons the hotel is such good value.

S Skill

Friendly, clean rooms and reception areas, excellent breakfast. High standard which does not change.

G Shaw

As always the friendliness and efficiency of the staff was second to none. We have used the Holiday Inn chain for a number of years and we always get value for money and look forward to our next visit.

L Jackman

The main reason I loved this hotel was because the two rooms we booked had an adjoining door, which is great when your travelling with three children. It was super value for money, two rooms and breakfast for five - £100 per night. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast selection Continental and English was great too. Great location for The Rose Bowl (walking distance) and the Botleigh Grange hotel. The rooms at the Holiday Inn Express are better than those at the Botleigh Grange (5 minute cab journey).

M Harvey

It compares more than favourably to other Holiday Inns we have stayed at. It is convenient for local, albeit, fast food eateries, plus the wonderfully huge M&S and Sainsbury's. It is conveniently located just off the M27 and close to King's Community Church, where we attended a wedding and where we would go to Church when we visit. I also found Iris Spencer most helpful with regard to my gluten-free diet. Although I brought my own bread, she did offer the use of kitchen facilities if I required them.

Joan

Perfect location for visiting our friends in southampton, and we were made welcome on arrival after a long drive. The room was of a very high standard, as was the food at breakfast. We had a most enjoyable stay, and look forward to staying again in the future.

Kevin

A well appointed modern hotel well located close to the Motorway. The staff were helpful, the room was clean, comfortable & quiet and the price represented good value.

Malcolm

Thanks Holiday In Express for a great, although brief stay. Your standards are high and we really appreciated your kitchen staff starting an earlier breakfast for us so that we could get our ferry. Thank you very much and very well done.

This was a short notice trip to visit family with very little time to research the hotel. We could not find a hotel in the area for less than £85 for the night. So to find this one at £61.00 I thought there was a bit of a risk, but we decided to take the chance. On our arrival to say we were pleased would be an understatement. On our arrival the parking was more than adequate. The registration went very smoothly, with a very polite, friendly and efficient receptionist. The room was on the second floor, very clean and a good size (this is a new hotel so it will be interesting to see how it wears in a couple of years) everything we required in the room tea, coffee etc. The hotel was very quiet with no noise on the corridors. We had a good night’s sleep, which is after all is what it is all about. Breakfast is a bit more than just toast. There was a good selection, with the staff replenishing the hot food regularly. Ok it’s not ‘full English’ but more than adequate. I stay at hotels on business on a very regular basis. I can honestly say, I have always found it is the staff who make a stay memorable and this hotel have staff who made us feel welcome from the beginning to the end. Well done To sum up clean, comfortable and great value. Will stay again.

William

My wife and I had a great stay at the hotel. Very clean, very comfortable and very modern. Breakfast was great, different varieties available and it was all a great bargain. Will stay again and will recommend. 5 Stars!

Marco A

We have now stayed here on two occasions. Both times we have been very pleased with our rooms and the friendly helpful staff. The continental breakfast was also very good and a bonus on top of the good nightly rate for our room. We will come back again for another night next time we are in the area.

Sheila

Our first stay in Southampton Botley Rd - (Rose Bowl). We where very happy with our stay. It's very hard to have all areas of a hotel to an excellent standard. Therefore very pleasing for a first short stay. Very maintained and cared for establishment. It's great to have the standard of service that you all have provided, and thanks must go to all staff in all areas, throughout our stay. A massive vote of thanks, looking forward to staying with yourselves or another Express soon. Regards.

We used this hotel as a stop over prior to joining Independence of the Seas for our cruise. We would recomend this hotel to anybody.

Barry T

Was an easy location for Peppa Pig World where we took our daughter. It was good value for money and very clean, staff friendly. Somewhere comfortable and safe to stay after busy days out. breakfast all included was handy and worthwhile too. Excellent for Rose Bowl cricket ground if you were planing on staying over!

Ben

The room and bathroom were well designed and the shower was excellent. The decor of the whole hotel was good and the breakfast was well organised and the food was freshly cooked

Robert

Convenient location close to the motorway. Ease of check-in and -out. Whole place very clean and tidy. Friendly and helpful staff - and plenty of them. Flexible restaurant opening hours both morning and evening. Reasonable food at reasonable prices. Good value all round.
